Field Trips

A Date with Lesley Ann

After story time at the library, Elijah and Lesley Ann pose in a barber's chair at the Ye Ole Sandwich Shoppe in Seneca.  Being the daughter of two teachers, Lesley Ann taught us all about grilled cheese sandwiches, knees and belly buttons.  She also has the prettiest curly hair.

First Family Field Trip

This weekend we took a road trip to Rock Hill for the wedding of our good friend Ashley (Myhal) Drake.  It was our first overnight trip as a family.  Even with two long car rides, we had more smiles than meltdowns.  We celebrated with Ashley and made sweet memories.

The Williams boys are dashing in blue.

We also got to see our good friend Laura aka The Maid of Honor.

Later that day, we met up with our friends Joshua and Tara and their new son Mac.  The boys partied hard at the White Horse in Rock Hill and were only slowed down by a nap.

The Better

Sometime back, I heard someone quote Tim Keller as saying that God has two answers for the prayers we bring to him- "Yes" and "Better".  If we don't receive what we think we need in the way or time we think we need it, we can be assured it is because he has a kinder, better plan.  I am amazed that Brooks and I are blessed to be enjoying a season of answered prayer.  After several years of wading through uncertainty due to circumstances such as Brooks' mom's struggle with terminal cancer, sorting through her things and selling her home, a miscarriage and the waiting to become pregnant again, I stop to consider where we are.  We are in a new place- eyes wide and constantly learning.  However, it is a familiar place- resting in the Planner who loves us much more than we deserve.   We are delighting in the Better.
