Have you ever read this book? If you haven't, you should. The story is simple. A mysterious man drops off a series of illustrations with captions at a publisher. He is supposed to return at a later time with the stories that accompany each illustration... but he never comes back, leaving only one illustration per story and just enough in the caption to ignite your imagination. Chris Van Allsburg is a fantastic storyteller not only with his words but also, and almost more importantly, with his illustrations. A friend's post on facebook about favorite children's books reminded me of this treasure. It is definitely a book we will have in our home when Elijah is older and can wonder at the mystery too!
