We brought home this little dog five years ago this week. While she only weighs fourteen pounds, her little life has been a weighty gift in our family. She's made us laugh when our hearts were sad. She's loved our little boys or at very least tolerated them. She comforted me during the hard first weeks of becoming a mom. She's kept our laps warm on cold winter evenings. And she has been our "first" and (at times best) child. I often ask what would we do without our Ziva-girl? Brooks says we would just get another dog. Maybe true, but there will won't be another as precious to us as this one. I know you can't read, dear Z, but thanks for loving us...especially Brooks.
